Implantable Collamer Lens

ICL Lens Implantation

Premium vision correction without removing corneal tissue. Also known as an implantable contact lens, ICL is designed for high myopia, thin corneas and refined visual quality — a biocompatible lens is placed inside the eye, and the procedure is fully reversible.

Why ICL

When laser isn't the ideal answer

If your prescription is very high or your cornea is too thin for laser correction, ICL is often the superior choice. No corneal tissue is removed — instead, a soft, biocompatible lens works in harmony with your eye for crisp, high-definition vision.

ICL lens implantation at EYEONCE is a premium vision-correction option that never touches the cornea — instead, a biocompatible lens is placed inside the eye.

It's designed specifically for high myopia, thin corneas and patients seeking exceptional visual quality without laser reshaping, backed by the same doctor-led judgment, advanced diagnostics and structured follow-up as every other EYEONCE procedure.

The ICL — Implantable Collamer Lens — sits behind the iris and in front of the eye's natural lens, correcting vision without removing any corneal tissue or the natural lens itself, through a micro-incision, insertion, precise placement and final positioning.

EYEONCE uses the EVO Aqua ICL with CentraFLOW technology, an advanced phakic intraocular lens whose central-port design maintains the eye's natural aqueous fluid flow and removes the need for a separate iridotomy.

Because no corneal tissue is removed, ICL preserves the cornea's natural strength while correcting high myopia and astigmatism together, with a lower dry-eye risk than laser procedures and built-in UV protection.

It's the recommended path specifically for patients with high myopia or high astigmatism, very large pupils at night, thin corneas not suited to LASIK or LASEK, very dry eyes, or a history of corneal injury or disease.

Surgery itself is minimally invasive — a roughly 3mm micro-incision, folded lens insertion, precise positioning between the iris and natural lens, and final fixation — performed by ophthalmologists specialized in ICL surgery. Because the lens can be removed if needed, ICL remains fully reversible.

Recovery guidance is specific and time-based: stop soft contact lenses one week before surgery (two weeks for hard lenses), wear an eye shield during sleep for a week, avoid rubbing the eyes for a month, and avoid intense exercise, swimming and sauna for a month.

Every ICL plan runs through EYEONCE's precision system: 3D ocular analysis mapping axial length, anterior chamber depth, corneal curvature and astigmatism, 1:1 customized lens sizing and power calculation, doctor-led surgery, and structured post-op monitoring of visual outcomes over time.

This is paired with the same international patient care (clear communication, on-site interpretation, transparent process) extended across every EYEONCE procedure.

ICL — questions & answers

Yes. EYEONCE is a Seoul-government-registered clinic for international patients, with in-house interpreters on-site in English, Chinese, Mongolian and Thai. From your first WhatsApp message through surgery and follow-up, there is no language barrier.
For laser vision correction (SMILE PRO, SMILE LASIK, LASIK/LASEK) a stay of about 3-5 days is typical — exam and surgery can often be done the same day, with a next-day check-up before you fly home. For ICL and lens procedures we usually recommend 5-7 days. Send us your travel dates on WhatsApp and we will build the schedule around you.
Contact lenses reshape the cornea, so accurate measurement needs a break: stop soft lenses at least 5-7 days before your exam, hard / RGP lenses at least 3 weeks, and ortho-k (dream) lenses at least 1 month. If you are unsure, message us on WhatsApp.
In the rare case an enhancement is needed, it is covered by our lifetime aftercare. Please contact us on WhatsApp first (+82-10-6308-0984) — we will review a detailed re-examination and, where appropriate, arrange the re-treatment. Reaching out on WhatsApp is the fastest way to get guided next steps.
ICL is an excellent option for patients with high myopia, thin corneas, dry eyes, or prescriptions outside the safe range for laser. Your precision exam confirms whether ICL or a laser procedure is the safest fit — and we always explain the reasoning.
Yes. The lens does not permanently alter your eye's natural structure and can be removed or exchanged if your needs change in future — a key advantage over tissue-removing laser procedures.
Many patients notice clearer vision within a day, with continued sharpening over the following one to two weeks. Some temporary haziness or halos at night can occur early on and typically settle as the eye adjusts over the first 1–3 months.
Don't rub your eyes; avoid swimming, saunas and steam rooms for about a month, and eye makeup for two weeks. Attend your scheduled follow-up checks (important for monitoring eye pressure and lens position), and use every prescribed eye drop exactly as instructed.
Stop soft contact lenses for 5–7 days before your exam (2–3 weeks for hard / RGP lenses). Bring your glasses and prescription records, avoid eye makeup on exam day, and arrange transport or a companion for surgery day.
Temporary blurriness can occur as your eye adjusts to the lens. Avoid electronic screens as much as possible early on and use your prescribed eye drops diligently. If you feel a foreign-body sensation or pain, visit us right away — or see a local ophthalmologist first and then contact us.
Yes. If anything ever seems wrong after surgery, contact us at any time. Through a detailed re-examination we'll assess your condition and, where appropriate, assist with re-treatment or lens adjustment.
No — the eye is fully numbed with topical anesthetic drops before the micro-incision, so you feel pressure rather than pain. Most patients describe mild scratchiness for a day or two afterward, easily managed with prescribed eye drops.
Cost depends on your prescription and the lens sizing confirmed at your pre-op exam. Message us on WhatsApp with your prescription for a personalized quote — ICL (implantable contact lens) surgery in Seoul is frequently more affordable than equivalent EVO ICL surgery in the US, UK or Australia.
A Real Story

"-9.00 and told laser was not safe for me. ICL was the answer."

My prescription was too high for laser and I had almost given up. EYEONCE recommended ICL — a reversible lens, no cornea removed. Two days later I was sightseeing in Seoul with vision I never thought possible. I actually cried the next morning.
